Lea Joakim Svendby (f.1996) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tromsø, Norway. Svendby graduated from Art School in Stavanger and began their studies with a Bachelor in Fine arts in Tromsø, this is now on a paus.
They're practice various from painting, sculpting, installation and performance. My artistic practice revolves around exploring societal issues and challenging norms and conventions. The theme of "outsiderness" is a recurring motivation in my work. I find it difficult to vocalize thoughts and experiences of being outside the majority perspective, which is why art has become my language and platform for self-expression. With a focus on identity, I am particularly interested in exploring queerness and non-binary perspectives, using art as a tool for self-discovery. Through my installations and performances, my aim is to create spaces that encourage dialogue, reflection, and a reevaluation of personal perspectives.
